Recto: "Burning blue lights & firing a volley of musketry signal for a pilot from the signal corps on board Schnr Col. Satterly, off Hatteras // turn over."
Verso: "This is the finale, the grand tableau of the eventful voyage of the Col. Satterly, 12 days from Fortress Monroe had nearly exhausted the water & provisions & the thought of the possibility of again blown off led to this culminating display of pyrotechy [sic] to attract the attention of those interested." Light sketch of man with back to viewer.

Central fold; pinholes on right and left margins; dog ears and slight loss of paper at corners; black smudges at corners of left margin.
