Recto: "1. Large Fort on the left of our lines 5th Corps // 2. Track of the Weldon Railroad // 3. Abattus // 4. lines of the 9th A.C. // 5. Working parties deepening the ditch // 6. Relief working parties // The size of this fort is not exaggerated only a small portion of it is seen in the view. It is a good illustration of what the army has to do in this war. The working parties are introduced to show the size of the work if carefully drawn this might have a good effect. They are still at work in the fort."
