Recto: [with small sketch] "Body Guard Black Tight Jackets, pants, topcoats, pistol carbines. // The Charge of Fremont's Body Guard and Major Zagoni. 200 men on 1500-2000 Secessionists, Springfield, Mo. Oct. 25, 1861. Near sunset clear sky. // Secessionists all in common dress. // Secessionist infantry. // Secession Cavalry. // Wilson's Creek. // Secession flag. Major White, prisoner, afterwards liberated was standing with an officer alongside the flag. // 2 or 3 horses shot in the charge up the hill, sent up in slow trot."
