Recto: "Moon // Che-Kiang."
Verso: "Banks Expedition // U.S. transport steamer Che-Kiang run down by a rebel (so supposed) schooner off the Florida reefs on the night of the 11th December. The schooner was sunk, the crew of five men escaping in their boat. The C-K reached Ship Island in a leaky condition & landed her troops in safety. // [signed] F.H.S."

Vertical and horizontal folds; right portion of drawing attached with glue; loss of paper at inner corner; dog ears at all corners; rip along left and upper margin; glue stains at upper corners; glue from patching leaking.
