Recto: "The [illegible] church of the Messiah // Messenger handing the mayor a dispatch from the Prussian Queen offering a 1000 Thalers to the sufferers of Chicago // wall // over // Mayor Mason see [illegible]."
Verso: "Rear basement room of the Church of the Messiah on Michigan Avenue, Chicago, showing Mayor Mason in his business office Receiving a dispatch from queen [sic] the Prussian Queen to draw upon her for relief of sufferes [sic] of Chicago fire, as all orders for relief in both money & goods pass through the mayor's hands & he sends the checks or orders direct to Standard Hall -- to Mr. Pullman who together with the relief comtee [sic] apply it to the proper use."

Torn on right edge; stains bottom center and left side; tiny holes on right side.
